H. H. The XIV Dalai Lama

His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, is the spiritual guide of Tibet, but he prefers to call himself a simple Buddhist monk.

He was born on July 6, 1935, in a nearby village of Taktser, in the Amdo province of northeastern Tibet, to a farming family.

At the age of two, when he was still called Lhamo Dhondup, he was recognized as the reincarnation of the 13th Dalai Lama, Thubten Gyatso.

The Dalai Lamas are considered to be the manifestations of Avalokiteśvara, or Chenrezig, the bodhisattva of Compassion and patron of Tibet.

Bodhisattvas are human beings who, moved by the desire to attain enlightenment for the benefit of all sentient beings, have made a vow to be reborn into the world (samsara) to help humanity.

Kyabje Tsenshap Serkong Rinpoche II

At the age of two, Tsenshap Serkong Rinpoche II (1984 - present) pointed to the photo of the recently deceased 14th Dalai Lama's assistant tutor and said: "That's me!"

Recognized as the reincarnation of the previous Tsenshap Serkong Rinpoche, the young tulku initially received his Buddhist training at the Ganden Jangtse monastery in southern India.

After deciding to continue his work for the Dharma as a layman, he completed his education at the Institute of Buddhist Dialectics in Dharamsala.

On the advice of the Dalai Lama, he has now completed two years of intensive English study in Canada and is continuing his higher Buddhist education.

H.E. Serkong Dorjee Chang Rinpoche III

The lineage of the 3rd Serkong Dorjee Chang Rinpoche includes eminent lamas of different traditions including Marpa the translator, teacher of the famous saint Milarepa.

The third in the lineage of reincarnations, His Eminence the Venerable Tenzin Ngawang Tsültrim Dönden was born on January 29, 1981 in India. In 1985, in the sacred place of Bodhgaya he was recognized by S.S. the 14th Dalai Lama, during the Kalachakra initiation ceremony, as the true incarnation of H.E. the 2nd Dorjee Chang Rinpoche. On that occasion he wore the monk's robes given to him by the former abbot of Gyume Lobsang Thinley. S.S. The 14th Dalai Lama cut his first tuft of hair blessing it with amrita, the nectar of Kalachakra.

At the age of 4 he obtained the title of "Tulku" or reincarnated lama in Swoyambhu in Kathmandu, Nepal where there is the monastery of Serkong Dorjee Chang. Five years later, at the age of nine, he obtained the same recognition as "Tulku" in the Ganden monastery and began his monastic studies here. He received from S.S. the 14th Dalai Lama vows as a novice monk and was given the name of Tenzin Ngawang Tsültrim Dönden. At the age of 13 he had already studied and fully memorized the tantric texts of Guyasamaja, Yamantaka and Chakrasamvara.

At the age of nineteen, H.H. the Dalai Lama conferred on him the vows of fully ordained monk. At the age of 29, on 10 October 2010, at 10.10 am he received the title of Geshe "Rab Jampa" in the Ganden Jangste monastery and in December 2013 he finished his studies at the Tantric monastery of Gyumè in India.
